REPORT AND PHOTOGRAPHS OF AUTUMN EVENT
SUNDAY 30th OCTOBER 2011

We had lovely fine weather for our Annual Bulb Planting Event and the children and adults turned out in force - which was just as well because we had 5,000 crocus, 3,000 bluebells and 2,000 daffodils to plant. By the finishing time of 3 pm the vast majority of these bulbs had been put in the ground and we look forward to a grand display next Spring.
The litter picking proved as popular as ever and the park was left in excellent condition.
At 1.45 pm we had an unveiling ceremony for the Green Flag that we were awarded earlier this year. The flag ceremony went off well with brief speeches from Park Ranger Matt Crehan, Friend's Chairman Alistair Sutherland and local Councillor Alastair Paisley.
Tea , coffee, juice and biscuits were ,as usual, provided free at Cafe Gazebo but we received donations totalling £36.00 and this will cover the cost. We also made £6.00 selling apples that had been kindly donated by some neighbours.
It was great to see the park filled with families helping to improve the park and enjoying the fine weather.
Here's to the next event.
